This month’s challenge – Povitica. Have you ever heard of it? Nope? Me neither. Well apparently, Povitica is a traditional Eastern European dessert bread and in English can be better described as a Nutroll. Long story short, you make the dough, roll it out, spread the nut filling over the dough, roll it back up into a log, and twist the log around itself in a pan. Bake it, and voila, when you slice it you get an intricate circular design on every piece. Not too sweet, not too dense, as my taste tester A said “perfect with a cup of tea” – indeed.

Great job! Your povitica turned out beautifully – great swirls!!
Wow, I thought there would be a recipe or at the least some feedback on the difficulty of making this recipe… It looks like it would be a major effort in just getting the dough rolled out enough.
Let me know if you would like me to send you the recipe. The dough was actually not difficult at all to roll out. I didn’t try to get it super super thin, but even with the way I rolled it out you can easily see the swirl from then wrapping it around.
