Prosecco cocktails with sage, pear and ginger make for a super chic and fragrant yet easy to make winter themed adult beverage.
What does prosecco mean to you? To me it means celebration. Of any kind.
Big or small.
Celebrate the beginning of the weekend with a chilled bottle of prosecco at noon on Saturday. Celebrate a birthday, family gathering, work event, friend’s birthday, you name it. In my mind prosecco is always synonymous with happy time and being present in that moment.
And if we’re going to be celebrating big moments with prosecco – it’s got to be a good prosecco and currently Voveti Prosecco is my favorite.
Not going to name any names but I have sampled a lot of different proseccos over the years and Voveti stands out from the rest. It is both upscale and affordable with a super chic modern taste that is crisp and fresh with the most pleasant aftertaste. After that first sip the flavors linger in your mouth for an extra moment, really rounding out each and every sip. Voveti is also actually a craft prosecco, with only 15,000 cases produced annually.
And while a good glass of prosecco works on it’s own – sometimes you want to jazz things up a bit and create a cocktail. So say hello to winter prosecco cocktails.
These winter prosecco cocktails are made with a medley of grated pears, honey, minced ginger and sage leaves all simmered together in a bit of water. That mixture is then strained so you are left with a sweet infused syrup with the strong aroma of ginger, sage and pear. You then add 1-3 tablespoons of the chilled syrup to each prosecco glass, topped with a pear slice, a sage leaf, and Voveti prosecco. And with that, your winter prosecco cocktails are complete!
Savor that first sip as all of the flavors mix together with the bubbly prosecco in your mouth. These prosecco cocktails are the perfect celebration cocktail with strong winter flavors.
And since the year is coming to a close (how did that happen?!) and we’re talking about prosecco cocktails and celebrations, I’d love to take a minute to reflect on my biggest moments of celebrations from 2016!
2016 was the year that my boyfriend and I spent 6 months of the year backpacking through eight different countries and traveling to two new continents – South America and Africa. After spending the holidays and a wintery January up in the Boston area, we were ready to head south for warmer climates.
In February we started the month off in Colombia, with a month long apartment rental in Medellin, before also exploring Bogota and Cartagena. We signed up for online Spanish classes to improve our language skills and focused on our professional and personal goals (building up our businesses, and developing a gym routine).
In March we started a whirlwind backpacking tour through the other countries in South America. We explored Peru with my parents for two weeks, including a once in a lifetime trip to Macchu Picchu, and after their departure connected with numerous couchsurfers in the country to get a bit more of the local experience.
After Peru, we hit country number 50 for both of us with Bolivia. A 3 days tour of the Bolivian Salt Flats with an awesome group of new friends was a definite highlight of the year for both of us.
We also took a bike tour down the “world’s most dangerous road” in Bolivia so that was quite the adrenaline rush (for me).
After Bolivia it was on to numerous desert tours in northern Chile, before exploring some coastal cities and town. By the time we hit Argentina, it was mid-May, aka when the temperatures drop in South America and it was time for us to head to Europe.
When we landed in Portugal, I quickly proclaimed that country to be my new favorite place in the world. Portugal stole both our hearts with it’s gorgeous dramatic coastline, delicious Mediterranean cuisine and quaint towns and villages.
From there we headed to the south of Spain to learn how to kitesurf over a period of 3 days which turned out to be the hardest thing I have ever tried to learn (and I am nowhere near mastering it yet). Then it was on to a ferry to Morocco with both D and his sister.
Morocco was our first taste of Africa and it was intense. Hot, crowded, and overwhelming at times while also being gorgeous, fascinating and full of foreign scents and aromas, this is a one of a kind destination. Truly unlike any other country we have traveled to in the past 4 years. A 2 day Saharan desert safari where our whole group slept directly under a starry sky with not a single light in sight was a major highlight.
From there it was back to Spain for a friend’s wedding before a road trip with my parents through both Spain and Portugal.
It was now early August and time to head back to the US for my cousin’s wedding in New Jersey. I had no time to adjust to the time difference and instantly hit family party mode for the long weekend.
The remainder of the year D and I stayed in the US, catching up on quality family time with both our parents. Since I can never sit still I also managed to get out to Florida to visit my closest friend, spend a long weekend in Colorado for a friend’s bachelorette party, catch up with my study abroad friends in Chicago, and make trips to both New York and Philadelphia to see friends.
The year is now wrapping up for me in Puerto Rico, where I just spent a week with 11 of my closest and dearest family members on our annual fam jam family vacation.
Looking back on it 2016 has been a crazy busy year filled with so many new experiences and great times with both friends and family. So much to feel grateful for and celebrate.
And what better way to celebrate the end of the year than with a batch of winter prosecco cocktails made with Voveti.
Hope you enjoyed my recipe for prosecco cocktails! To see where Voveti is sold near you be sure to check on their store locator page.
