Whenever people mention the word ‘holiday’ they generally think of sun, bikinis, sea and cocktails. However, that’s not always the case, because people also go on holiday in winter, and do that rather energetic activity – skiing.
Now, me being me, that would generally involve broken legs and injuries that would certainly cause a decent amount of pain, however my friend swears by it. He jets off every winter at least twice, taking to the slopes and letting adrenaline take over. France, Italy, Norway, Austria, even Andorra, he’s been to them all, and never once came back with a broken leg, which I think is quite the achievement!
Because this kind of holiday includes a certain amount of physical exertion, he swears by making sure his body is in tip-top condition prior to heading to the snow, so he can truly throw himself into the task, so to speak. He always books a night at the airport before he goes away too, something I do whenever I head somewhere less energetic. I find this idea cuts out the stress and tiredness of travel, and my friend also agrees. Of course, if you have winter packing with you, which is generally heavier and more bulky, this means you can be more leisurely with getting to the airport, and you don’t have to sweat it on a busy train with bulky suitcases, desperate to get to the airport on time.
Relaxation is key to any enjoyable holiday, and that begins the moment you leave the house.
Hotel-wise, I regularly book the Manchester Airport hotels and have often used AirportHotels.com, and I’ve stayed at several, so I’m quite well placed to comment on them reliably. Personally, I’ve never had a bad experience, I’ve always found a fantastic level of service and never paid a large amount for my stay either. I can’t recommend it enough basically. My friend however, he flies regularly out of Ireland, and he books the Dublin Airport hotels, and again he’s stayed at several. The convenience is fantastic, and starting your holiday chilled-out, really does get you in the right frame of mind. Despite our choices, no matter where you fly from, you’re sure to find a range of hotels to suit, including many great value Luton Airport hotels for example.
Ski resorts have a magic look about them, and I did actually venture out to France with my friend on one of his energetic trips. I didn’t venture out onto the slopes myself, because like I’ve mentioned before, I’m uncoordinated and basically a coward, but you’ll find slopes for beginners, intermediates and advanced, and facilities for the scaredy-cats like me, who prefer to sit around rather vainly wearing fluffy jumpers and drinking hot chocolate. I loved it, I was relaxed and enjoying watching the scenery, and basically that’s personal choice.
So remember the next time you hear the word ‘holiday’, these wonderful occurrences happen all year around.
