Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free mini turkey taco patties that come together in less than 30 minutes and are bursting with fresh crisp flavors from the tortilla crumbs, cilantro, lime zest and liquid egg whites. Healthy, protein rich and delicious.
We all know I absolutely love eggs. As in adore them. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, you name, a dish is always better with eggs. I always use whole eggs though, so when I was approached by AllWhites Egg Whites, to make a recipe with their liquid egg white products I was intrigued.
I had never tried liquid egg whites, now seems like as good a time as ever.
The All Whites liquid egg whites are just as you would assume 100% liquid egg whites. Fat free, cholesterol free and a great lean source of protein, they seem to be a perfect alternative to regular eggs and allow for a higher intake a protein.
I have recently started thinking about my protein intake, and upon some quick calculations discovered I am definitely not getting my necessary amount of protein a day. I’m not a huge meat eater and enjoy meals without any animal products in general and that brings me to a low daily intake of protein. I could eat more eggs a day, but I’m always worried about my cholesterol and the added fat so I like to curb that at a max of two.
With liquid egg whites though, I can add more protein into my diet without the fat and cholesterol. Not a bad deal. I can see this being an especially great product for fitness minded individuals who are trying to bulk up and gain both weight and muscle. I am always a bit skeptical of protein shakes, and definitely would prefer to just add egg whites to my meals instead for more daily protein. More importantly you can add liquid egg whites directly to your smoothie since they are pasteurized making them safe for consumption uncooked without fear of food born illness. As you might assume, liquid egg whites can be used pretty much in place of eggs in most savory recipes. While I’m not a huge fan of egg white omelettes, I knew that in mini turkey patties the egg whites would be virtually indistinguishable from using regular eggs, while still bringing all the flavors to the table.
Growing up my mom and grandmother used to make all sorts of meat based patties so I wanted to try making them myself, my way.
In this simply 30 minutes recipe you mix together ground turkey with egg whites, tortilla crumbs, cilantro, lime zest, salt, pepper and chili powder. Form into patties, lightly dredge in the tortilla crumb mixture and pan fry, grill or bake.
It’s not quick grilling season here in 35 degree Massachusetts spring weather so I opted to pan fry these.
They’re moist, delicious and full of flavor. For added crunch and burst of freshness I served these with a corn salsa made with sauteed corn off the cob, red peppers, red onions, lime juice and cilantro.
Overall I was pleased with both the meal and the liquid egg whites. While I still may enjoy my fried eggs for breakfast, when it comes to adding eggs to savory dinner time cooking for added protein and healthier flavor I’ll go with the All Whites Liquid Egg Whites. With no added ingredients or chemicals these are made with 100 % liquid egg whites and pack 5 grams of protein into just one three tablespoon serving. Sounds like a great way to get more protein. You can find these in the refrigerated dairy section of the grocery store right next to the eggs so no extra searching required.
On a last note I am happy to host a giveaway for coupons for a month’s supply of AllWhitesEggWhites.
