Slow cooker Asian chicken recipe needing only nine ingredients for tender, fall-apart-in-your-mouth chicken. Set it and forget it. 15 minutes of prep required and the slow cooker does the rest. Gluten Free and Dairy Free too.Slow Cooker Asian Chicken Recipe {Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free}Slow cooker Asian chicken was something I knew I had to make after my first experience with the slow cooker making Mexican Pineapple Chicken. I just knew there would be many more recipes to follow. I mean this magical kitchen appliance seems to be a serious time saver.

You just throw a bunch of ingredients into the big pot like structure, turn the heat to low or high and 4-6 hours later dinner is ready.

Um is this the busy weekday life saver or what? I don’t know what percentage of the working professionals nowadays cook their meals from scratch but I am guessing the numbers are decreasing with every year.

Every one is busy and tired. Who has the time or patience to slave away in the kitchen after a long day of work? Now I know I love and live to cook so you simply can’t get me out of the kitchen but for those who eat to live, I get it. When you come home from work you’re already hungry and need dinner right away.

Well seems like the slow cooker has you covered. If I were still in the 9-5 work life I would be using a slow cooker all the time. Toss the ingredients together in minutes in the morning before rushing out the door and then come home to a hot meal waiting for you. No live in chef required. A pretty nifty device right?

Slow Cooker Asian Chicken Recipe served over rice

Now I don’t yet own my own slow cooker – I was using the one from the house sit in Costa Rica but now I am seriously considering getting one. Looks like there are plenty to choose from on Amazon, from the classic Crock-Potย for $49,ย to the Hamilton Beach model, and plenty others to choose from. Let me know if you have a favorite one that you use in the comments below.

For this slow cooker Asian chicken recipe I combined my favorite key Asian ingredients – ginger, garlic, tamari, rice vinegar, chili garlic, sauce, sesame oil, chicken broth, and olive oil. Mix all of those together in a bowl and pour over the chicken in the slow cooker.

I used chicken breasts for this because that’s all I had on hand but I know this recipe would be even more tender and delicious with chicken thighs, so go with whichever one you have. The chicken broth is optional though it will create more sauce for the chicken once it’s cooked, but it works without it as well.

It’s just magical to me how you can throw in raw chicken and the sauce into the slow cooker and in hours you have tender and flavorful fall apart in your mouth slow cooker Asian chicken. Shred the chicken once it’s cooked and mix with the sauce in the slow cooker for another 20-30ย minutes.

Serve the over rice, or in tacos, burritos, salads, you name it.

My new favorite slow cooker Asian chicken dish right here.

Made with practically zero effort.

    Vicky,

We are heading up to Tahoe on Wednesday and this is one of the dishes I made to take with…. delish! But what is the green and red veggies in the chicken….I am planning to serve it over rice but it needs some veggies ๐Ÿ™‚

    Respectfully,

Hope you had a great trip to Tahoe! I’ve been there once before and loved it. I just served this with a few dollops of chili garlic sauce and chopped cilantro, but if you prefer some veggies thrown in I think sugar snap peas, and broccoli would be great additions!

This recipe is simple, quick and easy to prepare. We followed the recipe as close as we could since this was the first time we tried it.. . Our chicken was done in three hours. It was delicious, but just a bit too spicy for us. We will fix it again and reduce the amount of chili garlic sauce.

Glad you enjoyed this! Sorry it was a bit too spicy. I’ll make a note in the recipe to use less chili for a less spicy version!

Great recipe concept! Four hours on high was too long and dried out the chicken. I am looking forward to trying this again. I plan to check it at three hours though. I think this combo has a lot of potential to become a five star recipe if I take it out sooner.

Thanks for sharing Kara – maybe I was using a faulty slow cooker that wasn’t cooking it at a proper “high” setting.
