In today’s highly connected world, I personally find it more important than ever to find ways to disconnect and focus on the things that really matter.
For myself, these include spending time with friends and family, cooking, and traveling. Nowadays, with so much information all over the internet and with access to all of it through your smartphone, there is a massive overstimulation of one’s senses all the time.
It’s too much.
We’re all absorbing information at an incredible pace, while discarding it immediately. How often do you instantly forget anything you’ve just read or seen on social media? It happens to me all the time. We’re mostly just stuck in a circle of infinite scrolling.
I sometimes catch myself getting lost in this, but when I’m home and visiting my parents I actively try to disconnect from technology, and instead connect with them, my dog and the house itself.
In the cool weather months, one of my all-time favorite activities is sitting by the fireplace in the living room with my mom and enjoying a steaming hot cup of tea. If it happens to be snowing in the background, that makes this scene even more complete.
I just spent one week at home visiting my parents; and my mom and I spent hours sitting by the fire. Our tea of choice this time around was Twinings of London herbal tea, specifically the Buttermint blend.
Some fun facts; Twinings of London has been around since 1706, when Thomas Twining opened the House of Twinings in London with the vision to sell only the finest teas, herbs and infusions. The teas start with the finest ingredients sourced from all over the world. There are nine Twinings master blenders who travel the world to find only the best teas, spices, herbs and fruit infusions available. If there’s a job opening in that department I know I’m qualified.
My mom and I spent hours by the fire enjoying a hot cup the Buttermint herbal blend; a vanilla flavored peppermint tea. This aromatic blend starts with peppermint leaves from Europe, Egypt and North America combined with creamy flavor of vanilla for a velvety smooth tea that was made for evenings spent by the fire.
Mesmerized by the flames while enjoying our cups of fragrant and minty tea, this was our way to relax and unwind. It’s amazing how serenity and tranquility can be added to your daily life with just one cup of tea. It may be the Russian in us, but we just can’t go a day without a cup of tea; either to start the day, finish it off or just unwind somewhere in between. We love our daily tea sessions and it always brings some comfort and warmth into our days.
Next time you want to take a moment to disconnect and unwind, make yourself a steaming cup of tea to join you in the process.
The latest Twinings herbal blends include Buttermint, Lemon Delight and Berry Fusion. If you’re looking for some different herbal blends there is a range of 17 to choose from.

I know this brand very well. I always have several types in my cupboard. As for disconnecting….I totally agree. I spend so much time using technology….sometimes I think time before computers was better.
