This kale strawberry smoothie recipe is packed full of superfood ingredients and the perfect way to start the day. Vegan too!  Kale strawberry smoothie ready to drink Normally I’m a savory hearty breakfast eater, but lately that’s been changing. Sometimes you just wake up and don’t feel like making a cooked breakfast – tossing a handful of ingredients into the blender immediately seems like an easier and faster option. And a smoothie has the added bonus of being very easy to take on the go with you. So that’s where this kale strawberry smoothie comes in.

I make protein powder smoothies for my husband pretty much daily, and normally never even bother tasting them, but suddenly I was craving a green smoothie, one that didn’t have any protein powder and was just fruits and veggies. Kale and strawberries seemed like the perfect combo. Naturally I also decided to sneak in some added superfood ingredients like almond butter, hemp seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds. And to give it that rich creamy consistency Silk Almondmilk for the win. Since I live a dairy free lifestyle nut milk is something I always have in my fridge. It’s perfect in smoothies, coffee, oatmeal bowls, for adding creaminess to soups or stews, etc, basically when in doubt Just Add Silk! I mean you can just drink it by the glass, if that’s your jam. I find that the Silk Original Almondmilk has a perfectly neutral flavor that does not overpower anything it gets added in to. The Silk Vanilla Almondmilk is perfect for those who love that additional vanilla flavor. Did you know that Almondmilk has 50% more calcium than regular cows milk, while being lower in calories? I also love that Silk Almondmilk is dairy free, gluten free, soy free, carrageenan free and GMO free. Now where can you find the Silk Almondmilk? Walmart! Having a car in central Philly means I am not only limited to the specialty grocery stores in walking distance, but can easily take a drive over to a major grocery store like Walmart, and that’s where I can find a lot of pantry staples and my Silk Almondmilk, which thanks to long shelf life I can stock up on! You can find Silk Almondmilk display in the refrigerated section of the store, where it will be for a limited time.

Kale strawberry smoothie ingredients  To make this kale strawberry smoothie you just need a handful of ingredients:

  • kale
  • strawberries
  • Silk Almondmilk
  • ice
  • hemp seeds
  • chia seeds
  • flax seeds
  • almond butter

I love buying frozen fruit so that I always have it on hand for smoothies and it is frozen at peak ripeness so it still maintains the maximum amount of vitamins and nutrients.

Kale I either have fresh or frozen and love using it in salads, to make kale chips or throwing a handful into a juice or smoothie. It’s so much more versatile than other greens and I love all the vitamins and nutrients you can get in just a handful.

Hemp seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds are staples in my pantry and are packed full of omega 3s, protein, vitamin E, antioxidants, etc. These are a staple in my daily health and wellness routine and a smoothie is the easiest way to make sure I get these into my system daily.

Almond butter is my go to nut butter for both smoothies and desserts and is a great source of Vitamin E and magnesium, which boosts heart health.

Ice and Silk Almondmilk are added to the kale strawberry smoothie for that perfect consistency. Blend everything together and your feel good smoothie is ready as breakfast, snack time, etc.

To make this smoothie a bit sweeter feel free to add a frozen banana or some sweetener such as maple syrup. Additionally feel free to play with the ingredients and add more or less to taste.

I like a stronger kale taste with minimal sweetness so just a cupful of strawberries is enough for my taste, but if you want yours sweeter or more strawberry flavored feel free to add more. What I love about smoothies is the endless variety of combinations and adjustments. This is just my favorite version of a kale strawberry smoothie that you can easily adjust to your own taste buds! Kale strawberry smoothie time
